Welcome to the "Ferguson" family tree. Most of the information contained in this web site relates to my fathers side of the family, in particular the descendants and ancestors of Charles James Ferguson.
At present the family tree has been traced back to South Africa where research is being conducted. Some information has been obtained that suggests Charles James Ferguson moved to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in the early 1900's, after his divorce from Anna Magdalena Deale, however most colonial records were destroyed by Robert Mugabe. Research is still being undertaken in an effort to trace ancestors of Charles James Ferguson. Enjoy the site - and if you have ANY relevant information relating to my family, please email me and let me know.
Gaelic Name: MacFhearhuis
Motto: Dulcis ex asperis - Sweeter after difficulties Badge: Little Sunflower
Lands: Argyle, Perthshire, Dumfries and Galloway
Origin of Name: Gaelic, Fearghas (super choice)
The name Fergu(s)son sprang to life in many, widely spread parts of Scotland. Ideally the name could be traced back so as to bring the families together to a single ancestral family, but when we consider that the name Fergus in Gaelic means "the angry" and "the bold and proud", we can appreciate that such a descriptive term would have been applied to someone at some time in almost every village.
